Dear Parents and Community Members,
The State of Wisconsin Accountability Report Cards were released on November 21st, and the School District of Mishicot once again achieved a rating of “Exceeds Expectations”! Although ratings of this nature don’t tell the full story of the overall health of a school system, it is a testament to the committed teachers and staff, with your support, that this district does so well not only with test rankings, but with a positive school climate and well-rounded student body. Individual school ratings were:
Elementary – “Exceeds Expectations”
Middle – “Significantly Exceeds Expectations”
High – “Met Expectations”
The state report card grades student achievement in English language arts and mathematics, as well as district’s and individual schools’ year-to-year growth in those areas. The bases of the criteria are the state’s Forward Exam (grades 3-8), the ACT exam that measures college readiness and is mandated for Wisconsin 11th-graders to take, and the Dynamic Learning Maps applied to grades 3-8 and 11.
Those exam results, in addition to graduation rates, figure into district and school scores for closing the academic achievement gaps separating racial and ethnic groupings.
The report card’s fourth primary category measures “on-track” and post-secondary educational readiness. It focuses on attendance and graduation rates, third-grade English language arts achievement, and eighth-grade math achievement.
Mishicot’s overall score as a district was in the top third of sixteen area school districts. We are proud of the accomplishment of our students and staff! Report cards are now on each school’s individual website or can be found online at: http://dpi.wi.gov/accountability/report-cards.
