Education Impact: Sara Greenwood of the Mishicot School District
Greenwood worked at Lakeshore Technical College from 2007 to 2014 as a high school liaison, before transferring to the Mishicot School District. While at LTC, she strengthened relationships between K-12 school districts and the college, as well as faculty from both schools. In her final year at LTC, she increased the number of dual credits high school students earned by 300 percent.
She has been a member of the Manitowoc County Partners in Education Committee for the past seven years and the chairman for the past four. She is a coordinator of the Mishicot Middle and High School Academic and Career Planning program, helping students develop a career plan. In addition, she has helped coordinate agreements so that Mishicot students can earn 130 college credits from LTC or the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh at the high school.
In August 2016, she coordinated an event for middle and high school staff to tour local businesses and to hear from local business leaders to see workforce needs and learn how industries relate to high school coursework.
She also has helped coordinate the district’s “Snack Pack” program, in which families can sign up to be part of a weekly food distribution program. As coordinator of the middle school program, she works with local civic organizations, businesses and school-affiliated groups to host food drives throughout the year to keep school food pantries stocked.
