Dear School District of Mishicot Community,
My name is Justin Gerlach and I am our new Middle School Principal and High School
Athletic Director. I am starting my 20th year here in the School District of Mishicot having served as a Spanish, Biology, and Agriculture instructor as well as a Cross Country
and Track & Field coach. It is an honor to continue to serve the school district and the
community in my new position and I look forward to our continued success together.
Thank you for an outstanding start to our school year. Our students are excited to be
in our classrooms, engaged in our expectations of learning, and are becoming involved
in our extra-curricular activities. Our staff are focused on delivering an engaging and
rigorous curriculum with learning outcomes designed to challenge yet support our students to be able to demonstrate growth, apply their knowledge, and connect their learning to their future plans. I wholeheartedly believe that we are a successful rural school district through our shared partnerships and support of our community along with our established Culture of Learning.
New to our middle school this year is our STEM laboratory classroom. Our students now have access to a classroom space equipped with the resources for them to integrate Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) skills into their coursework. While we use STEM as the acronym, please realize that students are incorporating Art, Design, Music, Literacy, Problem-Solving, Collaboration, Teamwork, and Career-focused learning skills to be able to connect their learning to outcomes that are tangible and meaningful to their interests and lives.
Please read our enclosed articles that highlight these integrated learning experiences!
Athletically, our fall programs of football, cross county, and volleyball have respectively done well. The teamwork, collaboration, communication, skill-building, strength & conditioning, and time that our athletes and coaches devote to their programs showcase the process of the development and building of their teams and programs. Trust the process. There is a strong foundation being built and we look forward to their success. As this year progresses, I look forward to all that our students will accomplish. If you ever have questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I look forward to working with all of you and I sincerely thank you for your continued support of our school district.
